Raw Food Diet and the Toxic Society

Raw Food Diet and the Toxic Society

We live in a toxic society. We breathe it in. We drink it. We eat it. We live in it. Toxic factors around us are absorbed and we feel its effects by low energy, allergies, weight gain, and infections. Too much of a build up of toxins can lead to serious illness such as cancer, osteoporosis, and heart disease.

To avoid the impact of our daily lives from consuming us, we must counter it by doing something to eliminate the toxins we take in. A raw food diet is an easy and effective way to do this. What is a raw food diet? One where you only consume unprocessed and uncooked foods, like fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, nuts, and seaweed.

Even properly preserved foods like dried fruits such as prunes and dates that are not processed can contribute to a raw food diet. The reason why a raw diet depends on uncooked foodstuff is because at temperatures higher than 116 degrees Fahrenheit can kill the enzymes in the food. An enzyme is an element in your food that assists in the digestion and absorption of food. When the enzymes are killed off in cooking, you cannot draw the full nutritional value of what you eat and are getting more calories to nutrition ratio. That means you need to eat more to feel full, but are actually getting less nutrition from it. You gain weight and are undernourished at the same time.

The typically high fiber content of a raw food diet will help you pass wastes from your body quickly. A build up of toxic wastes in your intestinal track can cause a host of problems from feeling sluggish and constipated all the way up to colon cancer, a highly preventable cancer you can avoid with a proper diet. Anyone can fit a raw food diet into their lifestyle. If you are not used to it, break in by increasing your intake of fresh foods while reducing at least one cooked meal a day until you adjust.

There are many raw foods available, so there is something you are bound to like. If you fear your tastes in raw foods are limited to a select few, by all means take a vitamin supplement or splurge every once in awhile to include foods you might like that have limited processing methods or lower heat cooking used.
